The Social Compact, Inc. is a nonprofit organization launched in 1990 by a coalition of business leaders who came together to promote successful business investment in undervalued communities for the benefit of current residents.  This is largely done through the Neighborhood Market DrillDown, a pioneering market analysis model built on innovative sources of dependable, business-oriented data that reveals the hidden strengths of traditionally undervalued communities.

The DrillDown is a unique and successful method for attracting business investment into inner-city neighborhoods.  By focusing on assessing market potential in neighborhoods that are often overlooked by private investors because of negative stereotypes, DrillDown s build broader, business-based profiles of neighborhood markets.  A sophisticated and actionable tool in communities’ business recruitment efforts, the DrillDown profile gathers, cross-checks and synthesizes data from public, private, and commercial sources, to develop more complete, timely, and targeted information than is otherwise available.  To date, DrillDown s have successfully fueled private investment in urban neighborhoods in Chicago, Cleveland, Harlem, Houston, Jacksonville, Oakland and Washington, DC.
